Newly Appointed University Grants Commission Chair Takes Oath

Professor Pradip Keshari Chaudhary, the newly appointed chair of the University Grants Commission, took the oath of office and secrecy on Thursday.

Minister for Education and Sports, Sashmit Pokharel, administered the oath to Professor Chaudhary at the Ministry of Education.

The Council of Ministers had appointed Professor Chaudhary as the chair of the University Grants Commission on Wednesday.

The position of chair had been vacant since the previous chair, Professor Devraj Adhikari, was relieved of his duties through an ordinance.

Background

Professor Chaudhary had also resigned as the Dean of Education at Tribhuvan University before the ordinance was issued.

He was appointed as the Dean of Education in Baisakh 2081 and had also taken on the responsibilities of the Vice-Chancellor after the then Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kesarjung Baral, resigned.

Professor Chaudhary is a professor in the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy.
