Nepali Congress Unity Hinges on Gagan Thapa’s Leadership, Says Purna Bahadur Khadka

Nepali Congress’s acting president Purna Bahadur Khadka has urged party president Gagan Thapa to take the lead in uniting the party, saying the recent Supreme Court verdict has provided a final opportunity for the party’s unity.

In a Facebook post, Khadka expressed his concerns over the party’s internal conflict and the country’s current situation, stating that the party’s unity is the top priority.

‘The country’s nationality and history are in a critical and precarious state, and the Nepali Congress party is also at its weakest point,’ Khadka wrote. ‘In this situation, the party’s complete unity is the first and foremost necessity.’

Khadka emphasized the need for tolerance, sensitivity, and coexistence within the party to achieve unity. He also urged party leaders to put aside their personal interests, ego, and revenge, and work collectively towards the party’s unity.

‘The Supreme Court’s verdict has given us the final opportunity to unite the party,’ Khadka said. ‘I urge party president Gagan Thapa to take the lead in this effort, and I assure him that the rest of us will cooperate and support him.’

Khadka also appealed to all party leaders, brother organizations, and well-wishers to create a conducive environment for party unity.

‘If the country remains, multi-party democracy will remain, and the party will remain. And we will have a place in it. If not, everything will be lost,’ Khadka warned.

He also expressed his concern over the increasing use of abusive language on social media and urged everyone to stop this trend.
