CPN (Maoist Center) and Nepal Samajbadi Party have struck a historic accord to amalgamate their political entities, marking a significant milestone in Nepal’s political landscape.
Following a pivotal meeting between key leaders of both parties, a joint press release was issued, formally announcing the decision to merge.
The meeting saw the presence of prominent figures such as Prime Minister and Chairman of Maoist Center, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, alongside Senior Vice Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha, and General Secretary Dev Gurung. From the Nepal Samajbadi Party, attendees included Mahendra Raya Yadav, Chairman, Vice Chairman Ganga Narayan Shrestha, and General Secretary Ramesh Prasad Yadav.
Notably, the absence of Babu Ram Bhattarai, the other Chairman of Nepal Samajbadi Party, was conspicuous. Bhattarai had voiced opposition to the union, resulting in internal discord between the two Chairmen.
The joint statement emphasized the attainment of the decision to merge, while also acknowledging that the parties are yet to settle on the name of the newly unified entity.
