Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is set to seek a vote of confidence today. The House of Representatives will convene at 1 PM for this crucial session.
According to the constitution, a Prime Minister appointed with the backing of two or more parties must secure a vote of confidence from the House within 30 days. Prime Minister Oli, who was appointed on July 14 with the support of the Nepali Congress, now faces this requirement.
To win the vote of confidence in the 275-member House of Representatives, at least 138 votes are necessary. Oli holds a two-thirds majority.
The government coalition includes the Nepali Congress (88 members), UML (79 members), JSP (7 members), and LOSAPA (4 members). Additionally, public opinion, civil emancipation, and other parties have expressed their support.
