A meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) is underway at 11:00 am today at the Federal Parliament Building in New Baneshwar. Yesterday’s session was adjourned due to a lack of quorum, the minimum number of members needed to conduct business.
Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha was expected to present the ‘Political Party (Second Amendment) Bill 2080’ but the meeting was postponed. Information and Communication Technology Minister Rekha Sharma presented the bill on his behalf.
CPN-UML whip Mahesh Bartaula raised questions about the quorum, leading Speaker Devraj Ghimire to address the issue according to Article 94 of Nepal’s Constitution.
Today, Speaker Ghimire will reveal a letter from the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers office. Additionally, Dr. Arzu Rana will present a report on the Food Hygiene and Quality Bill 2080, and Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat will propose consideration of two bills, the ‘Customs Bill 2080’ and the ‘Banking Offenses and Punishment (Second Amendment) Bill 2080.’
