The US military has reportedly drawn up additional attack plans targeting Iran, including a possible deployment of the GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB), widely known as the “Mother Of All Bombs”. The options are being prepared as President Donald Trump faces mounting pressure to end the conflict while maintaining his stated objective of preventing Tehran from developing nuclear weapons.

According to CNN, officials familiar with military planning said the potential targets include Iranian energy infrastructure and nuclear-related facilities. However, the plans do not confirm that Trump has authorised a new attack.

Trump has ordered the military to develop additional strike packages against Iranian targets that include “a lot of energy infrastructure” and the potential use of a MOAB, one of the sources told CNN. The same source said the phrasing used was that this attack would come “prior to US retrograde in CENTCOM AOR (area of responsibility),” indicating the administration could launch the additional strikes, attempt to declare victory and quickly pull everyone out.

The proposed use of the MOAB represents a potential escalation in the conflict. Weighing approximately 21,600 pounds, the GPS-guided weapon is the largest non-nuclear bomb in the US arsenal.

Military planners have reportedly included it among the options for striking targets that conventional weapons might struggle to destroy. One facility mentioned in the planning discussions is Pickaxe Mountain, which the US and Israel suspect houses elements of Iran’s nuclear programme.
