Syangja Administration Cracks Down on Artificial LPG Shortage

Syangja’s District Administration Office has launched a crackdown on LPG dealers and suppliers to prevent an artificial shortage of cooking gas in the market.

The move comes after complaints from consumers that LPG gas was not easily available in the market. A joint monitoring team led by Assistant Chief District Officer Prem Suvedi has been conducting surprise inspections of gas supply, storage, and distribution in various parts of the district since two days ago.

The team, comprising representatives from the District Administration Office, District Police Office, Integrated Office, and related agencies, has inspected gas dealers and suppliers in Chapakot, Waling, Bhirkot, and Putalibazar municipalities.

According to the administration, most dealers were found to be receiving regular LPG supplies from industries. However, the monitoring team concluded that the gas distribution system needs to be more organized and transparent.

The team checked the records of gas storage, supply from industries, and distribution to consumers. After the inspection, all business operators were directed to keep a clear record of gas import, storage, and distribution.

Warning to Dealers

Assistant Chief District Officer Suvedi warned that any activity creating an artificial shortage of gas in the market would not be tolerated. He cautioned that if any dealer was found to be hoarding gas unnecessarily, discriminating in distribution, or showing a shortage despite regular supply, action would be taken according to the law.

Suvedi emphasized that protecting consumers’ interests is the administration’s top priority and that market monitoring would continue. He urged consumers to immediately inform the District Administration Office if they encountered any problems, irregularities, or attempts to create an artificial shortage in gas distribution.
