Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has stated that the current government’s work style has led to three distinct perceptions among citizens: uncertainty, desperation, and anger.
Speaking at the central committee meeting that began today, President Thapa shared that he has been interacting with citizens and found that they are experiencing these emotions.
‘I find uncertainty in some citizens,’ President Thapa said. ‘When I talk to some citizens, I see desperation because things were not good yesterday, and they are not good today either. If things do not improve tomorrow, they will be desperate. Some citizens are angry.’
President Thapa cited the recent statements of Prime Minister Balendra Shah and Rastriya Swatantra Party President Rabi Lamichhane as examples of this growing anger among citizens.
He expressed concern that the Nepali Congress should not be happy about the anger among citizens but rather worried.
President Thapa recalled the time when former Prime Minister KP Sharma and former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba were angry with the citizens on Bhadra 8.
He also reminded the central committee that citizens can protest, and it is essential to be aware of this possibility.
Referring to the previous central committee meeting, President Thapa said, ‘It was said that no one needs to take responsibility for the people. It was said that it’s not about the people, and we have won the election.’
President Thapa stated that the anger did not appear suddenly on Bhadra 23 and 24, but rather it was evident on Falgun 21 during the Violet Day protests.
