In a move that could destabilize the current government, the Rastriya Janamorcha Party (RJP) formally announced its withdrawal of support for the administration led by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal. The decision comes a day after a major cabinet reshuffle.

RJP Chairman Chitra Bahadur KC, cited the controversial reappointment of Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, as Home Minister as a primary reason for withdrawing support. Lamichhane faces ongoing investigations for alleged fraud.

The cabinet reshuffle on Thursday saw the CPN (Maoist Centre) form a new coalition with the CPN-UML, RSP, and CPN (US). This change in the ruling coalition ended the previous alliance that included the Nepali Congress and other parties.
