Probe and Action Needed Over Incidents on 23 and 24 Bhadra: Krishna Pahadi

Human Rights and Peace Society founder Krishna Pahadi has called for an investigation into the incidents that took place on 23 and 24 Bhadra and action against those responsible.

Pahadi stated that the government, led by Balendra Shah, had promised to form a committee to investigate the incidents within seven days as part of its 100-point work plan, but it has been four months since the promise was made.

Speaking at a citizen dialogue program in Butwal on Friday, Pahadi said that if those responsible for the incidents are not held accountable, lasting peace cannot be established in the country.

‘The demand for an investigation into the loss of life and property during the Janjati movement and action against those responsible has been made by both the ruling and opposition parties,’ Pahadi said. ‘If that does not happen, such incidents can recur.’

Pahadi expressed that the government’s activities have not been able to satisfy the general public and business community, and that the government’s immature foreign policy has raised suspicions in neighboring countries China and India.

Pahadi urged the government to seek a civic solution rather than a military solution, warning that the latter could lead to accidents. He also suggested that the government stop its activities of arresting and intimidating businessmen without evidence.
