A sudden surge in onion prices has been reported in the Kathmandu market. According to the data released by the Kalimati Fruits and Vegetables Market Development Committee on Thursday, prices of all types of onions have increased significantly compared to the previous day.
The price of Nepali big onions saw the highest increase. The average wholesale price of Nepali big onions, which was Rs 55 per kilogram on Wednesday, has increased by Rs 10 to Rs 65 per kilogram on Thursday, marking an 18.18% rise.
Similarly, the price of Indian big onions has also increased. The price of Indian big onions, which was Rs 65 per kilogram on Thursday, has increased by 15.38% to Rs 75 per kilogram. The price of small onions (tunnel) has also increased, rising from Rs 30.67 to Rs 34.85, a 13.63% increase.
