A fatal collision between a van and a motorcycle in Rukum West has resulted in the death of one person and left another injured.
The incident occurred on the evening of Shrawan 21, around 5:45 pm, in Tawalem, Musikot Municipality-8.
According to the Rukum West Police, a van with license plate number Ba. Pr. 03001-3956, which was carrying a prisoner from the district jail, collided head-on with a motorcycle bearing license plate number K. Pr. 03-001 P 0768.
The motorcycle rider, 20-year-old Ganesh Shahi from Aathbis Kot Municipality-10, and the pillion rider, a resident of Bohara in Aathbis Kot-8, were both injured in the accident.
They were rushed to the local health service office in Sallem for treatment, where the pillion rider succumbed to his injuries.
Shahi has been referred to the Karnali Provincial Hospital in Surkhet for further treatment.
The van driver, Tek Bahadur Puna, has been taken into custody by the police.
