Nepal tech startup Niriv rebrands to Niguro as platform expands

A Nepali digital platform and search engine previously known as Niriv has officially rebranded to Niguro, launching an upgraded web portal aimed at expanding sovereign internet tools across the country.

The transition, which moves all core services from legacy domains niriv.com and niriv.com.np to niguro.com, marks a strategic consolidation of the tech initiative’s localized web utilities, business listings, and content tools.

Local digital pivot

Originally established under the Niriv brand to host localized media feeds and regional directory framework, the initiative underwent a comprehensive technical overhaul to build a domestic alternative to international internet platforms.

The new name, Niguro (निगुरो), refers to the edible wild fern harvested across Nepal’s mid-hills—a local cultural symbol chosen to reflect organic growth and accessible information.

In addition to a streamlined search index designed for local bandwidth conditions, the upgraded ecosystem integrates:

• Niguro Biz: An indexed database connecting users directly to verified local suppliers and commercial outlets.
• Unified Utilities: Real-time news aggregation, live weather tracking, sports updates, and an integrated native Nepali calendar.

‘Building for the local market’

Addressing the shift, founder Yukesh Chaudhary stated that establishing local digital platforms remains essential as internet usage grows across South Asia.

“Nepal should not rely solely on imported digital infrastructure,” Mr Chaudhary said. “By transitioning our services from Niriv to Niguro, we are building a distinct, homegrown portal tailored specifically to local language, culture, and user intent.”

Developers confirmed that technical migrations are complete, with traffic from legacy address structures seamlessly redirecting users to the central platform at niguro.com.
