Nepal’s Taxpayer Incentive Scheme Announces First Winner of 1 Million Rupees

A consumer who purchased goods worth 250 rupees from Shiv Krishna General Store has won a bumper prize of 1 million rupees under the Taxpayer Incentive Scheme.

The winner’s coupon number is 007 315 254 493. Fifteen other consumers have also won prizes of 1 lakh rupees each.

The Inland Revenue Department announced the winners at a program held at the Ministry of Finance today. The scheme aims to promote a culture of bill collection and make the tax system more effective.

How the Scheme Works

The government had announced the Taxpayer Incentive Scheme in the current fiscal year’s budget. Under the scheme, 15 consumers will win prizes of 1 lakh rupees every 15 days, and one consumer will win a bumper prize of 10 lakh rupees.

A new website, prize.ird.gov.np, has been launched to facilitate the scheme. Consumers who make cash payments for goods and services worth over 100 rupees can upload their bills on the website to participate in the scheme.

Consumers who make transactions through QR codes do not need to upload their bills, as they are already included in the system.

Eligibility Criteria

Consumers who make cash payments for goods and services worth over 100 rupees are eligible to participate in the scheme. They can download their transaction receipts and use the transaction number to participate in the scheme.
