Nepal’s Foreign Employment Entrepreneurs Launch Protest

Nepal’s foreign employment entrepreneurs have launched a protest against the government, citing unaddressed demands. The Nepal Foreign Employment Entrepreneurs Association announced the protest today, stating that the government has failed to address their 15-point demands submitted on July 26.

According to Mahesh Kumar Basnet, the association’s first vice-president, the protest will continue until their demands are met. The association has announced that it will stop providing services from the Department of Foreign Employment, including prior and final labor approval, advertising, and document certification.

The association has also warned that if their demands are not met, they will hand over the keys to their offices to the government and stop sending workers abroad from August 17. The entrepreneurs are demanding the withdrawal of action taken against them for sending workers abroad via Indian airports, the determination of transparent labor costs and scientific service fees, and the reduction of airfare to labor destination countries.

Association President Dik Bahadur Khatri stated that the government has been given time until August 17 to send workers abroad who have already obtained labor approval. He also warned that entrepreneurs who send workers abroad during the protest will be removed from the association’s member organizations.
