Nepal’s Communist Party Urges Speaker to Summon PM for Q&A Session

Nepal’s Communist Party has requested the Speaker of the House of Representatives to summon Prime Minister Balendra Shah to participate in a direct question-and-answer session.

During Friday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, the party’s chief whip, Yuvraj Dulal, made the request, citing the House’s rules of procedure. ‘Honorable Prime Minister, we want to request that you summon Prime Minister Balendra Shah to participate in the question-and-answer session with members of parliament, as per our rules,’ Dulal said.

According to Rule 56 of the House’s rules of procedure, the Speaker is required to allocate the first hour of the first day of each month’s first week for a direct question-and-answer session with the Prime Minister. If the scheduled session cannot take place on the designated day, it must be held during the next sitting.

However, this provision has not been implemented. Members of parliament have been raising questions about the non-implementation of this provision.
