Nepali Cricket Team Splits Travel for ICC T-20 World Cup

The Nepali cricket team is preparing for its participation in next month’s ICC T-20 World Cup. After a farewell from the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN), the team is divided into two groups for travel to the West Indies.

The first group of 7 players and 4 officials will depart Saturday night via Qatar. This group includes opener Kushal Bhurtel, Aasif Sheikh, pace bowler Karan KC, Sompal Kami, Abinash Bohara, spinner Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi, and support staff.

The second group, led by captain Rohit Paudel, will depart on Sunday afternoon. Players in this group include Sundeep Jora, Gulshan Jha, Pratish GC, Anil Kumar Sah, Dipendra Singh Airee, Sagar Dhakal, Kamal Singh Airee, and Kushal Malla. Head coach Monty Desai and additional support staff will accompany this group.

The travel split is due to business class ticket availability. The team will hold a 5-day practice session followed by a practice match in the West Indies. Details of the match opponent and timing will be announced soon. The Nepali team will then travel to the USA for the World Cup, held jointly in the USA and West Indies starting June 2nd.

Nepal is in Group D, with their first match against the Netherlands held in Dallas on June 4th.
