Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has stated that the party’s special general convention was held based on the authority of the general convention representatives and that it was necessary to hold the special general convention.
Thapa said that the special general convention was held on the basis of the sovereign authority of the general convention representatives. He added that the legitimacy of the special general convention has already been confirmed by the general convention hall, the Election Commission, and the court, and that an opportunity has arisen to confirm it again.
‘We will claim legitimacy with great dignity,’ Thapa said. The president stated that there is a mandatory requirement to hold the 15th general convention by Mangsir. The Nepali Congress has set the second week of Ashwin as the time for the regular general convention.
Speaking at the second national convention of the Nepal Loktantrik Adivasi Janajati Mahasangh, the sister organization of the Nepali Congress, President Thapa informed that the general convention will be held on the scheduled time. He stated that there is a constitutional and statutory requirement to hold the general convention by Mangsir.
Thapa said that he will make every possible effort to include all sides in the general convention. ‘I have made and will make efforts to hold the general convention within the scheduled time, including all parties, within the limits of the statute.’
President Thapa, who has been inactive due to membership issues, informed that he has been working to resolve the issue.
