Nepali Congress MP Asks Government About Proposed Trauma Centre in Dhalkebar

Nepali Congress MP Professor Dr Chandramohan Yadav has asked the government about the current status of the proposed trauma centre in Dhalkebar, Dhanusha.

Speaking at a meeting of the Federal Parliament’s Education, Health and Information Technology Committee on Thursday, Yadav expressed his dissatisfaction that the project, which had already been studied and agreed upon, had been stalled.

Yadav pointed out that Dhalkebar is a major commercial hub, located at the intersection of the East-West Highway and the Koshi Highway, and is also an important link to Janakpur, the capital of Province 2. He noted that the area experiences a high volume of traffic, resulting in a greater risk of road accidents.

Given its geographical and strategic importance, Yadav emphasized the need for a state-of-the-art trauma centre in the area. He argued that the centre would serve around 32 lakh people from four districts in Province 2, including Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, and Rautahat.

‘Dhalkebar is the busiest traffic junction in Province 2,’ Yadav said. ‘A scientific study was conducted in the past, taking into account the needs of the area. Around four years ago, the federal government initiated the process of building a trauma centre at a cost of around Rs 2 crore, after conducting soil tests. But where is the project now? I want a clear answer from the Health Minister.’

Yadav also expressed his disappointment that the project had been stalled despite the Cabinet’s decision to acquire land for the project.
