Nepal Warns of Action Against LPG Hoarders and Black Marketers

The Department of Commerce, Supplies, and Consumer Protection has issued a warning to those involved in hoarding and black marketing of LPG gas, saying it will take strict action against them.

The department said it has been receiving complaints that LPG gas is being sold at higher prices than the fixed rate, and that some sellers are hiding the gas and selling it only to their acquaintances, hotels, and businesses.

According to the department, it is the right of consumers to get essential goods like LPG gas at the fixed price, and those involved in hoarding, creating artificial scarcity, and selling at higher prices will face action under the existing laws.

The department has urged consumers to inform the nearest police station, district administration office, or call the department’s toll-free number 1137 if they find out about such illegal activities or feel cheated.

Meanwhile, the department has assured consumers that the problem of LPG gas distribution, which has been seen in some areas, will be resolved soon, and has requested consumers not to panic.
