The Inland Revenue Department has completed all technical preparations for the taxpayer incentive gift program. Today, the department informed Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle about the gift selection method and system.

According to Director-General and Joint Secretary Dr. Bishmakumar Bhusal, the department will announce the first gift program on Friday. He stated that the program is for consumers who made online purchases of goods and services from Shrawan 1 to 15 and for consumers who uploaded physical bills to the department’s website.

Based on daily transactions from Shrawan 1 to 15, 15 people will win one lakh rupees each. Additionally, a bumper gift will be announced for all consumers who purchased goods and services during this period, with one person winning 10 lakh rupees. However, Director-General Bhusal noted that the prize money will be subject to tax.

Finance Minister Dr. Wagle had announced the taxpayer incentive gift program in the budget for the fiscal year 2083/84. According to the program’s operational guidelines, gifts will be announced on the 16th of every month (for transactions from 1 to 15) and on the last day of the month (for transactions from 16 to the end of the month).

Consumers who make purchases through banks and wallets will be automatically included in the program. However, the department has stated that consumers must have a bill to receive the gift. Consumers who make cash purchases must obtain a PAN and VAT bill and upload it to the department’s website to participate in the gift program and receive a coupon.
