Nepal Telecom Authority Directs Mobile Service Providers to Prepare 5G Rollout Plans

Nepal’s telecom regulator has directed mobile service providers to prepare a phased plan for the rollout of 5G services in the country.

The Nepal Telecommunications Authority issued a press release on Friday, stating that it has directed mobile service providers, including Nepal Telecom and Ncell, to prepare a plan for the rollout of 5G services in major cities, with the goal of expanding 4G services across the country and improving their quality.

The regulator has also directed service providers to improve the quality of their services, ensure regulatory compliance, protect consumer rights, and expand new technologies.

The authority has emphasized the need to improve the reliability of networks, increase data speeds, and enhance customer experience.

Service providers have been asked to submit regular reports on their progress in meeting the key performance indicators (KPIs) set by the regulator.

The regulator has also directed service providers to make their customer support systems more user-friendly and to use modern technologies, such as artificial intelligence, to improve customer satisfaction.

Furthermore, the authority has instructed service providers to prioritize the expansion of networks in areas where mobile services are not available or are of poor quality.

It has also emphasized the need to expand high-speed mobile broadband services in industrial areas, business centers, and major cities.

The regulator has also directed service providers to use radio frequencies efficiently and to reduce costs by sharing telecommunications infrastructure.

In addition, the authority has instructed service providers to implement effective cybersecurity measures, including disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

The regulator has also emphasized the need for a cost-based, scientific, and transparent tariff system.

According to the regulator, the effective implementation of these directives is expected to improve the quality of mobile services, expand 4G and 5G services, protect consumer rights, and promote the use of new technologies in the telecommunications sector.
