A Nepal Oil Corporation tanker carrying 20,000 liters of aviation fuel from India’s Bihar state to Kathmandu has been robbed of its entire cargo in the middle of its journey.
According to police, the tanker, with license plate number Na 7 Kha 1539, was found to have been robbed of its fuel in Birgunj, a city in southern Nepal.
Seven individuals have been arrested in connection with the theft, which is believed to have occurred on Thursday at the Saudagar Oil Center in Birgunj Metropolitan City-14.
Police Chief Pavankumar Bhattarai said that the tanker’s seal was broken, and the fuel was being siphoned off into gallons when the suspects were caught.
Those arrested include 55-year-old Sunain Miya, a petrol pump operator from Birgunj Metropolitan City-3, as well as 23-year-old Aslam Hawari and 21-year-old Rafik Miya, both petrol pump operators from Birgunj Metropolitan City-15.
Others arrested include 20-year-old Sandesh Ranamagar from Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-11, 46-year-old Keshar Ram Sunar from Ward No. 10, 50-year-old Mandasingh Lama from Ward No. 14, and 27-year-old Umesh Ranamagar.
The suspects are currently in police custody, and an investigation is underway.
