Nepal MPs Seek Talks with Government Over Lack of Inclusion in New Appointments

Nepal’s lawmakers have called for discussions with the government over the lack of inclusion in new political appointments. The issue was raised during a meeting of the Federal Parliament’s Committee on Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation of the State Affairs, Policies, and Responsibilities.

Lawmaker Ramesh Prasain from the Rastriya Swatantra Party pointed out that the government’s new appointments lacked representation from various communities, including the Madhesi, Dalit, and Tharu groups. He emphasized that the state’s behavior, rather than its constitution or policies, should make people feel included.

CPN-UML lawmaker Pushparaj Kandel suggested discussing the impact of social media, past agreements, the private sector, cooperatives, regional development, and resource distribution. Similarly, Nepali Congress lawmaker Geeta Gurung expressed dissatisfaction with the new appointments and called for the committee to draw the government’s attention to the issue.

Gurung also mentioned the security lapses during the incidents in Sunsari and Madhes Province on Ashar 23 and 24, 2083. The meeting formed a five-member subcommittee led by lawmaker Surendra Chaudhary to investigate the Sunsari incident.
