The inaugural Kapilvastu Tilaurakot Gold Cup football tournament, boasting the highest prize money in Lumbini province, begins this Saturday. The tournament will feature four A Division teams and four local teams competing at the Buddha Rangshala in Jitpur.
Organized by the Kapilvastu District Football Association, the tournament runs until April 6th. Participants include Three Star Club, Tribhuvan Army, Machindra, Nepal Police Club, Chitwan’s Hanami BFC, Sudurpaschim-11, Sahara Club Pokhara, and host Kapilvastu-11.
The tournament offers a record-breaking prize: 11 lakh 11 thousand 111 rupees for the winner and 5 lakh 55 thousand 555 rupees for the runner-up. Additionally, the man of the match will receive 10,000 rupees each day. The estimated cost of the competition is around 1 crore and 18 lakhs.
Association president Tilak Thapa expressed that the national-level competition aims to develop local talent and increase interest in the sport.
