Argentina Secures 2-0 Win

Argentina kicked off their Copa America 2024 campaign with a convincing 2-0 win over Canada at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Canada managed to hold the mighty Argentines scoreless in the first half, but the South American giants emerged stronger after the break. Julian Alvarez broke the deadlock in the 49th minute, putting the former champions on the front foot.

Argentina solidified their lead late in the second half with Lautaro Martinez converting a pass from the ever-present Lionel Messi in the 88th minute. Martinez had come on as a substitute for Alvarez just 12 minutes prior.

This victory puts Argentina at the top of Group A with 3 points. Their next challenge comes on Wednesday when they face Chile.
