France's Euro 2024 Squad

In a surprising turn of events, veteran midfielder N’Golo Kante has been recalled to the French national team for the upcoming Euro 2024 tournament. The 33-year-old, who joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad last summer, hasn’t played for Les Bleus since 2022 but his impressive form this season has earned him a place in Didier Deschamps’ 25-man squad.

Kante’s inclusion is a testament to his enduring quality and his crucial role in France’s triumphant 2018 World Cup campaign. His ability to break up play and orchestrate attacks from deep makes him a valuable asset for the French squad.

The squad also features young talents like 18-year-old Warren Zaire-Emery and uncapped Bradley Barcola, who impressed during PSG’s Champions League run. Kylian Mbappe, despite the swirling transfer rumors, will captain the team in Germany.

However, the squad announcement wasn’t without its disappointments. Chelsea’s injury-plagued Christopher Nkunku, Crystal Palace’s in-form winger Michael Olise, and several other notable names missed out on selection.

Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni has been included despite a recent injury concern, adding another layer of intrigue to France’s midfield options.

With a mix of experience and youthful exuberance, France is set to face a challenging Group D that includes the Netherlands, Austria, and Poland. The tournament kicks off on June 17th, and all eyes will be on Kante’s potential impact as Les Bleus aim for European glory.
