Israel’s Ambassador to Nepal, Smulik Ari Barel, has expressed his country’s interest in expanding labour cooperation with Nepal.

During an interaction with journalists in Pokhara on Thursday, Ambassador Barel stated that discussions are underway between the Israeli and Nepali governments to sign additional labour agreements.

The ambassador mentioned that Israel is taking initiatives to provide more job opportunities for Nepalis in the ‘Care Giving’ and agriculture sectors, among others.

He highlighted the significant role played by Nepali workers in Israel as ‘Care Givers’. Ambassador Barel also emphasized the potential for cooperation in other areas such as agriculture, tourism, and information technology.

He noted that since 2001, the ‘Learn and Earn’ programme has been providing Nepali students with practical and skills-based training in agriculture.

Under this programme, students gain not only theoretical knowledge but also hands-on experience with modern agricultural technologies.

Ambassador Barel stated that Nepali youths who have participated in the programme have made notable progress in acquiring knowledge, skills, and experience in the agriculture sector.

He added that Israel has been implementing various programmes aimed at sharing its technology and expertise with developing countries.
