Today marks the memorial day of former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress founder, Girija Prasad Koirala. The Nepali Congress and associated organizations are holding various programs to honor his legacy. This morning, a wreath-laying ceremony took place at the party office in Sanepa. Additionally, a lamp lighting program was held at Shantibatika, organized by the Navy Association under the leadership of Nepali Congress Party spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat.
Koirala, a pivotal figure in Nepali politics, was instrumental in bringing an end to the Maoist insurgency through peace negotiations. He passed away on the 7th of Chaitra, 2066, at the age of 85.
