Dengue Cases Rise in Baglung, ‘Search and Destroy’ Campaign Launched

A ‘search and destroy’ campaign has been launched in Baglung to combat the rising number of dengue cases in the district. The campaign aims to destroy the breeding grounds of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which spreads the disease.

According to Praveen Sharma, chief of the Gandaki Province Public Health Office, the campaign was launched in response to the increasing number of dengue cases in the district. As of now, 241 people have been infected with dengue in Baglung.

The campaign, which is being led by the Public Health Office in collaboration with the Baglung Municipality’s health department and various other organizations, aims to raise awareness about the disease and its prevention.

Sharma emphasized that every individual and family must take responsibility for controlling and preventing the spread of dengue. He also stressed that the local community plays a crucial role in controlling the disease.

Doctors have advised people to take special precautions to prevent dengue infection, as the disease can be fatal if left untreated. Symptoms of dengue include fever, nausea, vomiting, and fatigue.

Sharma warned that dengue cases tend to increase during the months of Ashar and Kartik, and that timely measures must be taken to prevent and control the disease. If not controlled, dengue can spread rapidly and become an epidemic.

There are four types of viruses that cause dengue infection in humans, and the Aedes aegypti mosquito is the primary carrier of the disease. Sharma emphasized the need for people to be cautious and take necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the disease.
