BP Koirala’s Call to Arms Recounted in New Book

BP Koirala’s call to arms against the Panchayat system has been recounted in a new book titled ‘BP and the Days of Rebellion’ by Dharma Gautam.

Gautam, a resident of Ilam, has woven the story of BP Koirala’s armed struggle against the Panchayat system in his book. Before returning to Nepal in 2033 BS, BP Koirala had sent three of his trusted men to the country, including Gautam.

Gautam has included his personal and political memoirs in the book, according to Kalpana Dhakal, CEO of Kitab Publishers. Gautam had been close to BP Koirala since his exile in India in 2029 BS and had participated in the armed struggle against the Panchayat system.

He was arrested in Purnia, India, with arms and later, under BP Koirala’s direction, was arrested again in 2033 Kartik while trying to return to Nepal and spent about four years in prison.

Gautam’s book recounts his political journey, which began in Ilam and took him to various places in India, including Naxalbari, Banaras, and Bihar, before finally reaching Kathmandu.
