Arrest Warrant Issued for Pratappur Village Council Chairman

An arrest warrant has been issued for Umesh Chandra Yadav, chairman of Pratappur Village Council in western Nawalparasi, on charges of misusing government letterheads and constructing a pond in a public area.

The district court issued the warrant, but the police have not made it public, saying they are still investigating Yadav.

According to Bhesh Raj Khanal, information officer at the Nawalparasi District Court, the warrant was issued on Ashar 20, 2083, but no further information is available as the deadline for the warrant has not been extended.

However, Ram Bahadur Kesi, chief of the Nawalparasi District Police Office, said that an investigation is underway against Yadav based on the charges against him.

Yadav has acknowledged that the charges against him are a result of political revenge, saying that he has been working for the benefit of the people.

However, he claimed that the police did not inform him about the arrest warrant.

After the warrant was issued, Yadav filed a writ petition at the High Court in Tulsipur, Butwal, seeking a stay order against the arrest warrant.
