Chairman Umesh Chandra Yadav of Pratappur Rural Municipality in Nawalparasi has had an arrest warrant issued against him on charges of misusing government letterheads and constructing a public pond.
The warrant was issued after the District Court granted permission for his arrest, but the police have not made the warrant public, saying they are still investigating Yadav.
Information Officer Bhesh Raj Khanal of the District Court in Nawalparasi said that a warrant was issued in Yadav’s name on Ashar 20, 2083, but since the deadline has not been extended, he does not have any information about the subsequent process.
However, Police Inspector Ram Bahadur Kesi, chief of the District Police Office in Nawalparasi, said that an investigation is underway against Chairman Yadav based on the charges against him.
Chairman Yadav claims that the charges against him are a result of political revenge for the work he has done for the people, and that the police did not inform him about the arrest warrant.
After the arrest warrant was issued against him, Yadav filed a writ petition at the High Court in Tulsipur, Butwal, seeking a stay order against the warrant.
