Ambulances Used for Smuggling Marijuana in Nepal

A recent surge in the use of ambulances for smuggling marijuana has been reported in Nepal’s Koshi Province. In the latest incident, police seized 449 kilograms of marijuana from an ambulance in Dhankuta on Ashar 29, 2083.

The ambulance, which was found abandoned on the Koshi Highway, was registered to a diagnostic center in Dhankuta. The police have launched an investigation into the incident and are searching for the owner and driver of the ambulance.

This is not the first time an ambulance has been used for smuggling marijuana in the region. In a similar incident on Jestha 13, police seized a large quantity of marijuana from an ambulance in Bhedetar, Dhankuta.

Smuggling on the Rise

The use of ambulances for smuggling marijuana is a growing concern in Nepal. According to police records, seven ambulances have been involved in marijuana smuggling in the past three years. The ambulances are often used to transport marijuana from the hills to the plains, where it is then smuggled into India.

The police have expressed concerns that the use of ambulances for smuggling is becoming more frequent, and that it is a major challenge to control the trade. They have also warned that the use of ambulances for smuggling could damage the reputation of the entire ambulance service.

The Koshi Province Police Office has reported that over 72,000 kilograms of marijuana have been seized in the past five years, and that 863 people have been arrested in connection with marijuana smuggling. The police have also expressed concerns that the trade is becoming more organized, with smugglers using sophisticated methods to evade detection.
