Wildlife Safety: Brush Clearance Begins Along Chitwan Highway

A major road safety initiative has begun along the highway connecting Bharatpur Metropolitan City to the Chitwan National Park, with the goal of clearing the overgrown brush that lines the road.

The project, which started on Ashar 24, aims to reduce the risk of accidents and wildlife attacks on travelers and vehicles. According to Avinash Thapamagar, information officer at the Chitwan National Park, the initiative is a collaborative effort between the park, local government, and the road division office.

The brush clearance will take place along the stretch of road from Kasara Chowk to Riyu Khola, with a focus on removing only the necessary vegetation to ensure the safety of both travelers and wildlife. Thapamagar emphasized that the clearance was approved with the condition that it would not harm the park’s wildlife and main vegetation.

In addition to the brush clearance, the road division office has also started repairing potholes and damaged sections of the road. The highway, which is a major thoroughfare for travelers to and from Madi, has been prone to overgrown brush during the monsoon season, making it difficult for drivers to spot wildlife.

It is expected that the clearance will not only improve visibility along the road but also contribute to the safety of both wildlife and travelers.
