Scattered pockets of Nepal, including Kathmandu Valley, experienced light rain on Saturday morning due to the combined influence of local and westerly winds, according to the Department of Water and Meteorology’s weather forecast division.
The highest rainfall was recorded around Babarmahal in Kathmandu, with 7.2 mm accumulated in just 3 hours. Other affected areas include Kirtipur (5.6 mm), Budhanilkantha (2.4 mm), and Kakani (3.8 mm).
Currently, the weather is mostly clear in Koshi province’s hilly regions, while the rest of the country experiences partly cloudy skies.
The forecast for this afternoon predicts partly cloudy to mostly clear skies across the nation’s hilly areas, including Koshi province. However, a bulletin issued by the Division warns of potential light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in some locations within Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces. Scattered rain is also possible in other regions.
Furthermore, the Division anticipates thunderstorms in a few locations across Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Tonight, the weather is expected to be partly cloudy to mostly clear across the country’s hilly regions, including Koshi province. The possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning remains in a few areas of Koshi province, with a chance of it spreading to other parts of the nation.
