A teacher, Dharmendra Kumar, from Varanasi, was shot and killed by a police head constable, Chander Prakash, in the Civil Lines area of Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred late Sunday night.
Kumar was part of an education department team that had transported Uttar Pradesh Board examination copies to the local SD Inter College. While waiting for the college gate to open, a confrontation broke out between Kumar and Prakash inside the vehicle. Prakash then shot Kumar with his service weapon.
The injured teacher was taken to a district hospital but succumbed to his injuries. A case has been registered against the head constable, and all others present in the vehicle have been detained for questioning.
