US President Donald Trump has acknowledged that the American campaign against Iran’s leadership may have complicated efforts to negotiate an end to the war. Speaking at a rally in Youngstown, Ohio, on Monday, he questioned whether Washington’s strikes had gone beyond what was necessary.
Trump said the extensive targeting had made it difficult for the US to determine who currently holds authority in Tehran and could engage in negotiations. “We might have gone too far with the leaders,” Trump said, adding that Washington was struggling to identify whom it should approach for discussions.
Trump Questions Extent Of US Military Operations
During his address, Trump suggested that the US could have stopped its campaign at an earlier stage instead of expanding its attacks. “Level two and level two and a half was probably going too far,” he said, referring to the different stages of the military campaign.
