Two Nepali farmers, who were arrested by Indian border security forces while trying to buy fertilizers, have been released from an Indian jail after 38 days.
Suresh Prasad Singh and Nagendra Prasad Singh, both from Balara-5 in Sarlahi district, were released on bail from a court in Sitamarhi district of Bihar state on Friday.
The two farmers were arrested on July 3 (17 Ashar) from Sonbarsa in Sitamarhi district while trying to buy DAP and urea fertilizers. They were sent to jail on July 4 (18 Ashar).
According to Suresh Prasad’s son, Avinash Singh, the two farmers were released from the Dumra jail at around 7:30 am on Friday.
‘My mother and brother have gone to Dumra to bring back my father and uncle,’ Avinash said, adding that they were expected to return home later in the day.
The court had ordered the release of the two farmers on bail on Wednesday. The single bench of Additional Special Judge Akhilesh Kumar Jha at the Dumra sub-divisional court had ordered their release on bail.
Lawyers Sanjay Kumar Jha and Kiran Chaudhary had argued on behalf of the farmers.
