Temple Statue Vandalism Suspect Arrested in Sarlahi

Malangwa police have arrested Rakesh Sitta (33) for allegedly vandalizing a statue at Jhilimilia Temple in the Janakpurdham area. Sitta is facing charges related to religious offenses.

SP Shyam Kumar Mahato, Sarlahi Police Chief, confirmed the arrest was made based on evidence. The Malangwa District Court has extended police custody for five days for further investigation.

Locals in Malangwa protested the vandalism by shutting down the market area. Under Nepal’s Criminal Code, damaging a religious site carries a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment and a substantial fine.
