Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman and former Deputy Prime Minister Rabi Lamichhane has stated that his party must not be an alternative force but an irreplaceable one for the country.
Addressing a program in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Chairman Lamichhane pointed out that the tendency to seek immediate results in society is increasing, which is causing instability. He mentioned that the ‘addiction’ to seeking results from day to day has led to a constant search for alternatives, and clarified that the RSP has not come to search for alternatives but to become a solid alternative itself.
Discussing the party’s organizational structure, he acknowledged that the structure is larger than the base. He attributed this to the people’s strong desire for change and trust, saying that the party’s base has become strong before its structure could take shape.
‘Searching for alternatives is not the solution; becoming a reliable alternative is the main thing,’ he said. ‘The RSP is not just an alternative force; it must become an irreplaceable force. When someone deviates from the right path and stops listening to the people’s voice, that’s when the search for alternatives begins. But we must work in such a way that the people do not need to look for another alternative.’ He added, ‘Just having a massive structure does not make it strong if the base is not solid.’
Lamichhane further stated, ‘I feel that the RSP has become larger than its base can handle due to the youths’ desire for change and the need for transformation. Now, we must make it secure and robust by providing support wherever necessary.’ He also expressed his commitment to making the party strong from the base up and moving forward responsibly in the coming days.
