Millions of Nepali users were left inconvenienced this evening after the popular Hamro Patro app and web portal went offline. The Ditible first reported the outage around 7:30 pm Nepal time, with users encountering a “Host Error” message when trying to access the service.
Hamro Patro, a freemium calendar app with over 10 million downloads, is a staple for many Nepalis. Beyond its core calendar function, the app offers a variety of features including news updates, horoscopes, currency exchange rates, podcasts, and access to Nepali FM radio stations. With over 13 million monthly active users, Hamro Patro is a major player in the Nepali digital landscape.
The outage comes at a time when the app’s remittance service, Hamro Patro Remit, is also gaining traction. Launched this year, the service has already brought NRs. 1.5 billion in remittances to Nepal, highlighting its growing importance for Nepalis abroad.
The cause of the outage remains unknown at this time. Hamro Patro has yet to comment on the issue, and it is unclear when the service will be restored. This disruption is likely causing frustration for many users who rely on Hamro Patro for their daily routines and information needs.
