Drivers in Kathmandu, Nepal are facing long waits at gas stations due to a shortage of petrol and diesel. This is the first time in a while that there have been such long lines for gas in the city.
The shortage is happening because of a strike by the Nepal Petroleum Tanker Drivers’ Association. The drivers are asking for better working conditions, including official job appointments and following government pay regulations. They also want some rules changed, like one that requires them to get a double bank guarantee every year.
Many gas stations have run out of petrol and are closed. At the few stations that are still open, drivers are waiting for a long time in the hot summer sun.
Hopefully, an agreement can be reached between the workers and the government so the gas shortage can be resolved.
