Nepal’s Communist Party co-chair and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also known as Prachanda, admitted that his party made mistakes by focusing too much on forming and toppling governments.

Speaking at the 24th Bholte Memorial Day event in Kathmandu on Monday, Prachanda said that the party’s obsession with government formation and toppling had weakened its relationship with the working class, peasants, and oppressed communities.

‘We were focused on making and breaking governments, and we considered that as our success or failure,’ Prachanda said. ‘We made a big mistake by prioritizing that over our relationship with the working class and peasants.’

He also criticized the party’s leaders for being more interested in becoming ministers and prime ministers rather than serving the people. ‘Our leaders were more focused on becoming ministers and prime ministers, and that’s why our relationship with the people weakened,’ Prachanda said.

Earlier, when asked by a journalist when he would become stable in his political stance, Prachanda replied, ‘After I die.’ He then walked away without answering any further questions.
