Nepali Congress Directs Members to Engage in Rescue Efforts

Nepali Congress has directed all its members to engage in rescue, rehabilitation, and relief efforts immediately in the current crisis situation.

The party had previously instructed its leadership in the provincial and local governments to engage in rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts in the event of disasters.

Condolences and Support

Under the chairmanship of President Gagan Kumar Thapa, a meeting that started on Shrawan 24 expressed condolences to those who lost their lives in the landslide that occurred in Risan of Bhairi Municipality-2 in Jajarkot after incessant rain on Saturday night.

The meeting also expressed deep sympathy to the families of the deceased and demanded that the government provide immediate and proper treatment to the injured.

The party also urged the government to make arrangements for the immediate rescue, relief, and rehabilitation of more than 70 families who have been left homeless and displaced due to the landslide.

Relief Efforts

The meeting also drew the government’s attention to the situation of displaced citizens who have been left homeless due to landslides in hilly districts including Kalikot, and demanded that they be rehabilitated in safe places and provided with relief.

Twelve people presented their views in today’s meeting. The meeting of the Central Working Committee will resume on Bhadra 1 at 2:00 pm at the party’s central office, according to Acting Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Dulal.

Today’s meeting was attended by Treasurer Umesh Shrestha, Deputy General Secretary Yogendra Chaudhary and Udaya Shamsher Rana, and central members Arjun Narasingh KC, Mahendra Yadav, Jeevan Pariyar, Arjun Prasad Joshi, Dr. Chandrakant Bhandari, Taraman Gurung, Anggelu Sherpa, Madhu Acharya, and Prem Bahadur Khadka.
