Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has urged young people to form their political opinions based on facts and logic.
Speaking at a program organized by the Madan Bhandari Ideology Student Forum on Sunday, she emphasized the importance of study, dialogue, and debate in shaping one’s political views.
Former President Bhandari highlighted the power of democracy, which lies not only in establishing one’s own views but also in respectfully listening to differing opinions and forming perspectives based on logic and facts.
She also stressed the need to treat those with differing views with respect and dignity.
While acknowledging that today’s generation is more informed due to technology and social media, she pointed out that having access to a lot of information is different from having the right knowledge.
Former President Bhandari emphasized that politics is not just about asking for or giving votes during elections, but rather about understanding society, listening to the people’s voices, and playing a role in policy-making.
She encouraged young people to study Madan Bhandari’s ideas and adapt them to the changing times and circumstances.
Former President Bhandari expressed her belief that the country has high expectations for change and that young people have the new thinking and energy to bring about positive change in society.
She urged young people to be committed to democracy, sensitive to social justice, aware of national interests, and responsible citizens.
