Nepal to Rebuild Suspended Bridge Through New Contract

Nepal’s Finance Minister, Swarnim Wagle, has announced that the construction of a suspended bridge will resume through a new contract.

During a meeting in Aambukhairesni Rural Municipality-3 in Tanahun on Wednesday, Minister Wagle stated that the previous contract for the bridge’s construction had been terminated and a new contract would be awarded to complete the project.

The suspended bridge aims to connect Aambukhairesni Rural Municipality and Bharatpur Metropolitan City. Minister Wagle recalled that he had shown great interest in the project during his time as a member of parliament and had even raised the issue in the parliament multiple times.

He attributed the delay in the project’s completion to various factors, including damage caused by floods and pressure to change the design. However, with the termination of the previous contract, the project will now move forward through a new contract.

Minister Wagle also mentioned that he had instructed the Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development to initiate the construction of the bridge as soon as possible. He added that the government had made efforts to improve the quality of development and construction projects by amending the procurement law.

Meanwhile, Shukra Chuman, the chairman of Aambukhairesni Rural Municipality, drew the minister’s attention to the need for budget allocation for the overall development of the municipality. He highlighted the importance of infrastructure development, road network expansion, and promotion of the tourism sector.
