By Premraj Simkhada, Kalikot, Oct. 11: Daily life has been affected in various rural areas of Kalikot after continuous rainfall blocked unpaved roads, forcing locals to rely once again on mules to transport essential goods.
With vehicles unable to operate due to landslides and muddy roads, mules have become the main means of transporting daily necessities to remote settlements.
Since the onset of the monsoon, roads connecting hilly and remote villages have deteriorated badly. As vehicles have stopped operating, local traders and residents have been transporting rice, pulses, salt, cooking oil and other essential goods for Dashain on muleback along narrow trails through steep and rugged terrain.
