Mizoram aims to become the first state to complete Census 2027, with the State government stepping up preparations for the population enumeration exercise, officials said on Saturday (October 10, 2026).

Chief Secretary Khilli Ram Meena chaired a State-level conference here to review preparations for the second phase of the census, including training and field arrangements.

Mr. Meena stressed the need to ensure accuracy and thoroughness, noting that census data would play a crucial role in policymaking and in achieving the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
