Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Sunil Lamsal, inspected the newly constructed Gorkha Hospital building in Tamghas, the district headquarters of Gorkha.
During his visit, Minister Lamsal expressed dissatisfaction with the delay in the construction of the hospital building, which has been ongoing for a long time. He directed the contractor to complete the work as per the agreement, warning that the contract could be terminated if the work is not completed on time.
Minister Lamsal stated that the contractor will not be given repeated extensions, and the work must be completed according to the agreement. He also instructed the contractor to complete the remaining work with quality.
The physical progress of the hospital building construction has reached 92 percent. The construction work, which started on Ashar 18, 2078, with a target to complete it within two years, has been delayed several times, and the deadline has been extended repeatedly.
The hospital building is being constructed at a cost of Rs 259.4 million by Swachchhand-Baniya JV, Hetauda, Makwanpur. The new building will have separate arrangements for intensive care units, surgical, medical, and pediatric wards.
Although the Gorkha Hospital has been upgraded to a 50-bed hospital, the lack of adequate physical infrastructure has hindered the full implementation of the expanded services. Minister Lamsal also expressed his commitment to providing necessary support for the establishment of a blood bank at the hospital.
